Orphan & Idle Wells Southwest
We’re proud to announce that our CEO, Eric Unverzagt, will speak at the 2025 Orphan and Idle Wells Southwest Conference. This premier regional event brings together industry leaders, regulators, project developers, and technology innovators to address one of the energy sector’s most urgent challenges: the environmental, financial, and community risks posed by orphan and idle wells across the Southwest.
Panel: Pathways to Market–Evolving Carbon Credit Models for Orphan Wells
Eric and his fellow panelists will explore how carbon credits can serve as a powerful tool to fund orphan well cleanup, while examining the challenges that have kept today’s market fragmented and difficult to scale. Discussion will focus on overcoming registry bottlenecks and outdated methodologies, and on the innovations like digitized tracking and smarter standards that could unlock broader impact across the Southwest.
Expanding beyond Texas to include New Mexico, Oklahoma, Louisiana, and the Gulf Coast, this year’s conference builds on a growing movement toward collaborative, cross-border solutions for well retirement, environmental liability, and long-term risk reduction.
We’re looking forward to Eric sharing insights on this panel. Registration details are available below for those interested in attending. Save 10% off registration with code SPKR10.
