BCarbon Joined Industry Leaders in a ChrysaLabs Webinar to discuss the Role of Emerging MRV Technologies in Credible, High-integrity Soil Carbon Protocols.

BCarbon recently participated in a ChrysaLabs webinar titled “How are emerging technologies accepted and used in soil carbon market standards and registries?” The discussion brought together leaders from across the voluntary carbon market to explore how new measurement, reporting, and verification (MRV) technologies are evaluated, approved, and integrated into credible carbon market frameworks. Representing BCarbon on the panel, Christopher Ordoñez shared the registry’s perspective on innovation, scientific rigor, and trust in carbon markets.

During the conversation, Ordoñez highlighted how BCarbon evaluates emerging technologies for use in its projects and how its close relationship with Rice University supports ongoing innovation and evidence-based decision-making, helping to advance BCarbon’s soil protocol. Panelists discussed the pathways through which new MRV tools gain acceptance, the role of registries in ensuring methodological integrity, and how trust is built among key market participants, including project developers, verifiers, and buyers.

BCarbon appreciated the opportunity to engage alongside fellow panelists Marion Verles (SustainCERT), Edouard Lanckriet (Agrosolutions Consulting), and Viridiana Alcantara (Verra), with moderation by Philippe De L’Etoile of ChrysaLabs. The discussion reinforced the importance of transparent standards, strong scientific foundations, and collaboration as the voluntary carbon market continues to evolve. BCarbon thanks ChrysaLabs for convening this timely conversation and welcomes continued dialogue with stakeholders interested in advancing high-integrity carbon markets.
